Cordula Güdemann

Cordula Güdemann (born October 22, 1955 in Wehr, Baden ) is a German painter and draftsman .

Career

From 1975 to 1980 she studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe with Rudolf Schoofs and at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with Dieter Krieg . In 1985 she was awarded the Villa Romana Prize , in 1987 she received a working scholarship from the Kunstfonds Bonn Foundation , in 1988 the Karl Schmidt-Rottluff scholarship and from 1990–1991 the scholarship from the German Academy Rome Villa Massimo .

Cordula Güdemann was a member of the German Association of Artists . Between 1987 and 2003 she took part in five major annual exhibitions; most recently at the anniversary exhibition for the 100th anniversary of the Künstlerbund 2003 in Bonn with a multi-part work on large-format canvases. Since 1995 she has held a professorship for painting at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart .

She lives and works in Stuttgart and was married to the writer Peter O. Chotjewitz .

Cordula Güdemann shows references to society, politics and literature in often large-format paintings. With a visible ductus and strong colors, she has developed a collage-like objectivity that feeds on motifs from reality and, due to its gestural coarseness, also emphasizes the composition. In parallel with the large formats, he created smaller gouache works on cardboard and black and white chalk drawings on paper.
