Cornelius Ludovicus Baron de Wijkerslooth, Lord of Schalkwijk en Weerdesteyn (also: Van Wijkerslooth) (born May 25, 1786 in Haarlem , † November 10, 1851 in Oegstgeest ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and theologian and titular bishop of Curium .

Life

Wijkerslooth came from the Dutch-Belgian noble family De Wijkerslooth . After studying theology in Paderborn, he received the sacrament of ordination on June 25, 1811 in Paderborn . In 1817 he settled in Velsen and built a seminary . From 1833 he was professor of philosophy at the Great Seminary of Warmond .

On February 7, 1832 he was by Pope Gregory XVI. appointed Titular Bishop of Curium . The bishop of Münster , Kaspar Maximilian Droste zu Vischering , donated him episcopal consecration on September 15, 1833 ; Co-consecrators were the abbot of Hamborn and auxiliary bishop in the archbishopric of Cologne , Karl Adalbert von Beyer OPraem , and the auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Münster , Clemens August Droste zu Vischering . His episcopal motto was Demissa capit, superna respicit .
