Cortiçô is a municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district ( concelho ) of Fornos de Algodres . 144 inhabitants live in it (as of June 30, 2011).

history

The local Anta , known as Cortiçô de Algodres , attests to the prehistoric presence of man. The first documented mention of today's place comes from the year 1170 , under the name Cortiçolo . In the 16th century the place was known as Cortyçoo . It has been a separate community since the beginning of his records.

Culture and sights

In addition to its megalithic complex, the Quinta dos Telhais estate and the parish church Igreja Paroquial de Cortiçô (also Igreja de São Pelágio ), which belonged to the Order of Christ in 1320 , are listed as historical monuments.
