Cory Barlog (born September 2, 1975 in Sacramento ) is an American computer game developer and currently the Creative Director at SIE Santa Monica Studio . His works include God of War (2005), God of War II (2007) and God of War (2018), the latter two of which he acted as game director.

Career

Prior to joining Sony's Santa Monica studio, Barlog worked as an animation artist on the games Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This at Home and X-Men: Next Dimension .

After joining Santa Monica, Barlog was the lead animator for God of War (2005) and Game Director of God of War II (2007), for which he won a BAFTA for writing the game. In the first eight months of the development of God of War III (2010), he also served as game director. It was said that he was working on a new project. Although not part of Sony at the time, he helped write God of War: Ghost of Sparta (2010).

Barlog worked occasionally with the Swedish Avalanche Studios , made especially for the Just Cause - series are known, on a computer game adaptation of Mad Max .

In March 2012 it was announced that Barlog to Crystal Dynamics has connected to the cut scenes for the new Tomb Raider - game Tomb Raider to stage (2013). He left the company in April 2013.

In August 2013, it was announced that Barlog has returned to SIE Sony Santa Monica and is "assembling a team" to work on a new game. This was God of War (2018) for the PlayStation 4 , with Barlog working as the creative director for the studio.

After a break, Barlog would like to create a completely new game that is not based on an existing game series.
