Craft is a Swedish black metal band.
history
Craft was founded in 1994 under the name Nocta . After a demo recorded in 1997, but never released, without vocal traces, the name was changed to Craft.
In 1999 the demo Total Eclipse was released, followed by the first album Total Soul Rape in 2000 . Nox, who then took part as a guest singer, soon became a full member of the band. The album Terror Propaganda followed two years later .
The third album came out in 2005 under the title Fuck the Universe , on which Shamaatae von Arckanum participated. In the same year, drummer Daniel Halen was kicked out of the band. Per "Dirge Rep" Husebø, who played for Orcustus, Gehenna , Gorgoroth , Enslaved and Aura Noir , was supposed to take over the drums on the fourth album, Void . Alex, who plays under the pseudonym Phil A. Cirone with Shining , was announced as bassist . Guitars and drums were recorded in 2008 and the album was released in 2011.
Music style and ideology
Craft plays raw Black Metal in the style of old Darkthrone , further inspiration comes from rock music as well as metal (including Burzum , Trelldom , Thorns , Piledriver and Black Sabbath ), partly from electronic music , although the latter cannot be heard, and old Craft -Publications. Compared to its predecessors, Fuck the Universe is more rhythm and groove oriented, which is due to the influences of the band, but also to the fact that they didn't want to play the same grind beats all the time .
The band's logo is reminiscent of an inverted swastika with a fiery eye in it, but neither music nor musicians have any rights or other political references; the guitarist Joakim points out that National Socialism cannot be mixed with Black Metal and that National Socialist Black Metal is therefore an inappropriate term for corresponding music. The ideology represented by the band is comparable to the anti-cosmic Satanism of bands like Dissection and Arckanum as well as the Misanthropic Luciferian Order .
