Craig MacDonald (born April 7, 1977 in Antigonish , Nova Scotia ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played in the German ice hockey league for the Adler Mannheim, among others .
Career
Craig MacDonald began his career as an ice hockey player in the team at Harvard University , for which he was active from 1995 to 1997. During this period he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1996 in the fourth round as a total of 88th player by the Hartford Whalers . After he played in friendly matches for Team Canada in the 1997/98 season , he made his debut in the National Hockey League in the 1998/99 season for the Carolina Hurricanes , which after the resettlement of the Hartford Whalers to Carolina the rights to the attacker had received. In his rookie year , he remained pointless and punished in a total of twelve games. Most of the season he spent on the farm team of the Hurricanes, the Beast of New Haven from the American Hockey League . From 1999 to 2001, the left-handed shooter was exclusively on the ice for the Cincinnati Cyclones in the International Hockey League , before playing for Carolina in the NHL and their new farm team, the Lowell Lock Monsters , in the American Hockey League from 2001 to 2003 .
On August 14, 2003 MacDonald signed as a free agent with the Florida Panthers , which he left after only half a year to play for the Boston Bruins . The center bridged the lockout during the 2004/05 NHL season with an ex-team, the Lowell Lock Monster from the AHL. After resumption of play in the NHL, he received on August 11, 2005 as a free agent a contract with the Calgary Flames , for which he also played for a year and then for the Chicago Blackhawks , Tampa Bay Lightning and Columbus Blue Jackets , where he was in his year in Columbus was mainly used in their AHL farm team Syracuse Crunch . For the 2009/10 season , the Canadian was signed by the DEG Metro Stars from the German Ice Hockey League , where he only stayed for one season. In April 2010 it was announced that MacDonald is moving to league competitor Adler Mannheim .
