Cristóbal Ascencio García

Cristóbal Ascencio García (born March 25, 1955 in El Josefino de Allende , Jalisco ) is a Mexican clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Apatzingán .

Life

Cristóbal García Ascencio received on 4 May in 1985 by Bishop José López Lara the priesthood for the Diocese of San Juan de los Lagos .

After further studies he obtained a licentiate in canon law at the Pontifical Gregorian University . In addition to duties in pastoral care, he worked as prefect and rector of the seminary as well as judge at the diocesan court and the tribunal for the second instance . Until his appointment as bishop he was pastor in Tepatitlán de Morelos .

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Apatzingán on November 17, 2014. The Apostolic Nuncio in Mexico, Archbishop Christophe Pierre , donated him episcopal ordination on February 12 of the following year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of San Juan de los Lagos, Felipe Salazar Villagrana , and Auxiliary Bishop Enrique Sánchez Martínez from the Archdiocese of Durango .
