The Crown Holdings is an American packaging manufacturer .

Manufactured bottles , beverage , spray and cans . Crown supplies many of the leading breweries and food manufacturers in the world. Crown Holdings is the world's largest tin can manufacturer and the third largest beverage can manufacturer.

Crown's competitors include Ardagh Group , Ball Corporation (with Rexam ), BWAY , Can-Pack , Metal Container Corp. and Silgan Holdings .

Of the 33,000 employees, 7,500 work in North and South America, 11,500 in Europe and 4,500 in the Asia-Pacific area, and around 9,000 more are employed in the transport container division.

history

The company was founded by William Painter , who invented the bottle cap in 1892 . In 1996, Crown took over the French Carnaud Metalbox for $ 5.2 billion . In April 2018, Crown took over Signode , a manufacturer of transport packaging , from the financial investor Carlyle Group .

Crown in Germany

CROWN locks Germany GmbH is based in Seesen . Further production sites are located in Mühldorf am Inn and Lübeck . With the takeover of Signode, locations in Dinslaken , Goldkronach , Hilden , Nuremberg and Weischlitz were added.
