The Cuccio is a 22 km long tributary of Lake Lugano in the Italian province of Como in northern Lombardy . It flows through the Val Cavargna and drains an area of ​​around 56 square kilometers. On his way he crosses the municipal areas of Cavargna , San Bartolomeo Val Cavargna , Cusino , Carlazzo , Corrido and Porlezza .

The Cuccio arises at about 1590  m slm below the Pizzo di Gino at the confluence of several source streams at the Alpe Senavecchia near the border with Switzerland . He initially flows mainly to the south through the valley, where he first the fractions Dosso-finsué and Crevegno-rovolé happens that lie on a slope above the valley. Between the villages of Cavargna and San Nazzaro he turns to the southeast and only a little later at San Bartolomeo takes on Cuccio di San Bartolomeo from the left .

It now flows south and passes Sora and Cusino before it forms a short gorge at Carlazzo. He leaves this at San Pietro Sovera and reaches a broad level. The Cuccio turns to the southwest and only a little later flows into the east bank of Lake Lugano at Porlezza at 271  m slm between the Paradiso and Internazionale campsites .
