The director of the four episodes is Jano Ben Chaabane, who previously realized formats such as Circus Halligalli or Duell um die Welt . The scripts were written by Alexander Lindh, Bernd Heiber and Jano Ben Chaabane.

A song by the New York artist The Bones of JR Jones was used as the closing song for each episode .

In the confessional, the religious Andrea ( Barbara Philipp ), on behalf of her confused husband Frank ( Dirk Martens ), wants to know from the priest whether it is a sin to release the injured dog Emma, locked in the cellar, from her torments with one shot. While the killing is not a sin of animals, but the priest recommended the dog to sleep to let. Only when Frank comes back to church a little later does he explain the truth to the priest. Emma is a woman who has been locked up and abused in the basement by Andrea and him for months. Furthermore, he and Andrea are not married, but siblings. The priest then demands that Frank and Andrea should release Emma and face the police, otherwise he would reluctantly break the secret of confession and go to the police. The same evening Frank called the police and tied up Andrea. Frank wrote on a letter that everything was his idea and forced Andrea to join in. He did this so that Andrea didn't have to go to jail. When the house is stormed by the police, Frank commits suicide with a shot in the head.

A policeman ( Maxim Mehmet ) tells in the confessional that he had to kill a criminal in self-defense and was very happy with it. In the next visit to the Bleichstuht he speaks of his real plan. Under the pretext of doing something good, he wants to take vigilante justice against a supposed serial killer (Florian Hertweck). The policeman tells the priest that he locked the suspect in the trunk of his car. He did so because the case was not his and was just a patrol officer. Despite several attempts on the part of the priest to stop the police officer, he committed his intention on the same day. Shortly before this, the priest receives news from his craftsman Josip (Igor Possewnin) that the real serial killer has confessed and has been arrested.

reception

criticism

The reviews of the miniseries are mostly positive:

"From a simple basic idea," Culpa - Nobody is guilty "turns into a chamber play worth seeing with the highest psychological tension."

- Torsten Zarges: DWDL.de

“The pictures by cameraman Tobias Koppe are impressive despite the meager budget - the play with light and shadow effortlessly drowns out the narrow furnishings, and the minimalist, yet cool music by Tim Schwerdter gives the whole thing the last, intentionally rough Cut."

- Sidney Schering : quotemeter.de

"Guilt, atonement and excellent intimate play: [...] In" Culpa - Nobody is without guilt ", Stipe Erceq shines as a priest who prevents crime."

- Michael Hanfeld: FAZ.net

"Despite a budget that is certainly manageable, Jano Ben Chaabane, the creative head of the project, succeeded in making four astonishing and well-known short films on his directorial debut, which create great tension, even though most of the action takes place in the confessional."

- Tilmann P. Gangloff: Tittelbach.tv

However, there are also some negative reviews:

"Low-emotion chamber play offers little new."

- Marcus Kirzynowski: Wishlist.de

Audience ratings
