Cyrus William Beales

Cyrus William Beales (born December 16, 1877 in York Springs , Adams County , Pennsylvania , †  November 14, 1927 in Gettysburg , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1915 and 1917 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Cyrus Beales attended public schools in his homeland. After the death of his father, he took over his farm when he was 13 years old. He then studied pharmacy at Ohio Northern University until 1899 . He then worked as a pharmacist in York Springs. In 1903 he moved to Gettysburg, where he worked as an appraiser in Adams County. Between 1904 and 1905 he was also employed by the local district administration. In the following years he worked in several industries. This still included the pharmacy business as well as the banking industry, the handicrafts and especially the printing industry. Between 1910 and 1914 he was also a post holder in Gettysburg. Politically, he joined the Republican Party .

In the 1914 congressional election , Beales was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 20th  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Democrat Andrew R. Brodbeck on March 4, 1915 . Since he renounced another candidacy in 1916, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1917 . Between 1917 and 1921, Cyrus Beales was a member of the Pennsylvania Senate . Then he worked in Gettysburg in the pharmacy business. He died there on November 14, 1927.
