Czesław Lang (born May 17, 1955 in Kołczygłowy , Poland ) is a former Polish cyclist .

Athletic career

From 1970 to 1977 he was active in the Baszta Bytów cycling club and was trained by coach Euzebiusz Marciniak . As early as 1975 he was successful at the national cycling championships in Poland. At the 1976 Olympic Games , he and his team reached 5th place in the team pursuit .

Since 1977 he has focused on road races, but occasionally also drove track races. In 1979 he won the Polish championship in the team pursuit with the Legia Warsaw team . In 1980 he won the silver medal at the 1980 Olympic Games in single road driving .

He drove the Peace Tour four times, his best result in the Tour was the two ninth places in 1977 and 1979. He was also successful in the Tour of Poland .

professional

1982–1983 Czesław Lang drove for the cycling team Gis Gelati . The next two years for the Carrera-Inoxpran team . Then (1986) he moved to the team Del Tongo (until 1988); his last professional year (1989) he drove in the Malvor-Sidi team .
All teams were Italian. As a professional he took part in the Tour de France three times , his best placement was 89th place in the 1985 Tour .

director

As the director of the Tour of Poland , he expanded the amateur race into a world-class tour. The race has received numerous prizes and awards.

Familiar

Lang's daughter Agata, who grew up as a professional in Italy and later married an Italian, works as a cycling official (including Vice-President of the Union Européenne de Cyclisme ) and organizer of cycling races.
