Dávid Gríger (born November 28, 1994 in Poprad ) is a Slovak ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Czech HC Energie Karlovy Vary since 2013 , with whom he has played again in the Extraliga , the country's top division, since 2018 .

Career

Club career

Dávid Gríger comes from the youth department of HK Poprad , where he ran through all junior teams and made his debut in the Slovakian extra league in the 2012/2013 season . In 2013 he left his hometown at the foot of the High Tatras and moved to the Czech Republic to HC Energie Karlovy Vary , who initially used him for two years in the Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga , an Eastern European youth league . In the spring of 2015, he returned to his home club at short notice and completed the playoffs there in addition to the last games of the main round. Then he continued his engagement in Karlovy Vary and came to his first assignments in the Czech extra league . In autumn 2015 he was awarded to the second-class HC Dukla Jihlava from the 1st league , which he was able to win with Dukla. Since 2016 he has been playing for HC Energie Karlova Vary again. After relegation from the Extraliga in 2017, he played with the club in the 1st division. In 2018, Gríger made it back to the top with HC Energie.

International

Dávid Gríger represented Slovakia for the first time at the U18 World Cup in Division I in 2012 and, as the best assists at the home tournament in Piešťany, contributed significantly to the promotion to the top division. With the Slovak U20 selection , he took part in the 2014 U20 World Cup. Together with the Swede Elias Lindholm , he was the third best goal preparer there behind the Finn Teuvo Teräväinen and the Swede Filip Forsberg .

On April 2, 2015, Gríger made his debut in the Slovak men's national team in a friendly against Sweden .
