Dénes Rósa (born April 7, 1977 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian football player . The attacking midfielder was most recently under contract with the Hungarian first division club Ferencváros Budapest . Before that, the ten-time national player of his country had also gained experience in the British Isles - including with England's Wolverhampton Wanderers and the Scottish club Hibernian Edinburgh .

Athletic career

Rósa played for various Hungarian clubs before he started in 2003 for the first time for Ferencváros Budapest. There he won the double from the Hungarian championship and the national cup. He also became a Hungarian international after playing seven games for the U-21s between 1998 and 2000. While his debut went a little wrong with a 2-1 defeat against China on June 2, 2004, he celebrated four days later under coach Lothar Matthäus in a 2-0 away win against Germany . Between 2003 and 2004 he played a total of 13 European Cup matches at club level, including four Champions League qualifying games and nine UEFA Cup games in which he scored five goals.

In January 2006 Rósa moved to the English second division team Wolverhampton Wanderers. He stayed in the club, which also hosted his compatriot and "FTC" teammate Gábor Gyepes , until the end of the 2005/06 season in a "trial period" and stood after his league debut at Coventry City (0-2) in eight more Championship games on the field. After the end of the season, the "Wolves" equipped the Hungarians with a three-year contract. After the resignation of coach Glenn Hoddle , it quickly became apparent that successor Mick McCarthy placed little value on Rósa's services, which was reflected in the coach's public statements regarding his poor chances of playing in the first team. It was almost logical that the midfielder was deported to third division Cheltenham Town for a month and a short time later he landed on the transfer list. This was followed by a last assignment as a substitute for the Wolves on August 28, 2007 in the League Cup, which - also due to injuries - no further opportunities followed, although he was often in good shape when playing the reserve team.

On January 13, 2009, the contract was finally terminated by mutual agreement. Shortly thereafter, Rósa took part in a trial session at the Scottish first division club Hibernian Edinburgh and signed a new contract there free of charge until the end of the current season. He played ten league games for the "Hibs" and although local rival Heart of Midlothian, in the person of coach Csaba László, was interested in a follow-up commitment, the now 32-year-old Rósa returned to his homeland at Ferencváros before the start of the 2009/10 season.
