partnership

In May 1958, the city of Düren took over the sponsorship of the 10th coast minesweeper of the German Navy. The Ministry of Defense had asked about this. The ship was launched on June 12, 1958 in the presence of Mayor Heinrich Spies and City Director Hans Brückmann . Mayor Spies' wife named the coast minesweeper Düren . For commissioning on April 22, 1959, the dignitaries and the Düren naval comradeship traveled to Cuxhaven.

All commanders and many crew members cultivated the partnership through frequent visits and public appearances in Düren. The Christmas presents in the St. Josef children's home will not be forgotten . But all mayors, city directors, many council members and administrative officials also visited the Düren .

In the foyer of the Düren town hall you can see a large model of the Düren in addition to some memorabilia .
