DC Super Hero Girls
DC Super Hero Girls is a 2015 action figure series by DC Comics in cooperation with the American toy manufacturer Mattel , which is aimed at a younger female audience. In the same year a same name was Web - animated series started.

In April 2015, DC Comics announced that it would create a "new DC franchise aimed at 6 to 12 year old girls ". The focus was on a new action figure series in collaboration with Mattel that focused on popular female characters ("Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Harley Quinn, Bumble Bee, Poison Ivy, Katana and many more"), supplemented by an im Animated series planned the same year with a "child-friendly, modern aesthetic". For Mattel this was the first time producing a character series with an all-female cast.
The universe was presented in the cartoon series, which was published on its own website and on YouTube from autumn 2015 . There is a superhero high school in the fictional US city of Metropolis . a. budding superheroes Batgirl , Bumblebee, Harley Quinn , Katana, Poison Ivy , Supergirl and Wonder Woman go to school. There they learn to control their powers, solve typical high school problems and remain best friends despite their differences. In this world there are a majority of female heroes or villains , established male DC characters such as B. The Flash , Green Lantern and Beast Boy and Cyborg from the Teen Titans but appear in supporting roles. The associated web series has been running since October 1, 2015, and so far 37 two- to three-minute episodes have been published that deal with the adventures and high school problems of the Super Hero Girls (Batgirl, Bumblebee, Harley Quinn, Katana, Poison Ivy, Supergirl and Wonder Woman) rotate. In the main roles of the first season were (in brackets American voice actors):
- Bumblebee ( Teala Dunn ) is the Super Hero Girls' mood cannon. The African American can fly, shrink and is always in a good mood.
- Harley Quinn ( Tara Strong ) is the clown of the Super Hero Girls. It causes chaos for friends and foes with an endless arsenal of joke articles.
- Katana ( Stephanie Sheh ) is the warrior of the Super Hero Girls. The Asian is serious, loyal and always well dressed.
- Poison Ivy (Tara Strong) is the botanist for the Super Hero Girls. She is very intelligent and loves plants more than anything, even if they accidentally want to eat their classmates.
- Wonder Woman ( Gray DeLisle ) is the leader of the Super Hero Girls. She's super strong and brave, but as a teenager from ancient Greece she fought against the culture shock in a major US city.
From the second season onwards (in brackets American voice actors) were added:
- Batgirl ( Mae Whitman ) is the technician for the Super Hero Girls. She is a friendly and humble, even if she has a complex of not having "real" superpowers.
- Supergirl ( Anais Fairweather ) is the grandest of the Super Hero Girls. As an orphan under the shadow of her great cousin Superman , she sometimes feels lonely, but values her friends all the more.
Many established DC Comics characters appear in supporting roles. Amanda Waller (also known from the DC series Suicide Squad ) is the director of the superhero academy, supported by Gorilla Grodd (from The Flash ), the caretaker is Parasite (from Superman ). The classmates of the Super Hero Girls include a. The Flash, Green Lantern and Star Sapphire (from Green Lantern ), Beast Boy, Cyborg and Starfire (from Teen Titans ), Hawkgirl (from Hawkman ), Cheetah (from Wonder Woman ) and Frost (Killer Frost from Batman ). In addition to the web series, two feature films with internal DC Comics crossovers were produced. At DC Super Hero Girls: Super Hero High (March 2016) the Super Hero Girls met the New Gods , at DC Super Hero Girls: Hero of the Year (August 2016) they met Princess Amethyst .
