The DE-210 ( Russian ДЭ-210 ) is a heavy snow blower based on the Soviet and later Russian truck ZIL-131 , which was built in series from 1970 until the 2000s. It is the successor to the D-470 , the series production took place at Sewdormasch in Severodvinsk on the White Sea . The first copies still had the designation D-707 (Russian Д-707), which was changed to DE-210 after a short time due to new standards. The vehicles were also exported, some examples came to the German Democratic Republic .
Vehicle history
A similar heavy snow blower based on the ZIL-157 had already been built in 1959 with the D-470 . From 1967, a successor to the truck was available with the ZIL-131. The development of a new snow blower, which uses the chassis of the ZIL-131 as a base, began in 1968 at Sewdormasch (Russian Севдормаш, short for Severodvinsk road machine works ). The factory also manufactured the D-470, which was built in parallel until 1986. The new machines were initially given the designation D-707, but as early as 1968 the Soviet standard was changed according to which the name was given. In the decades that followed, the snow throwers were referred to as DE-210. Series production began in 1970.
At Sewdormasch, the trucks delivered by Zavod imeni Lichatschowa were extensively rebuilt. The 6.0-liter gasoline engine was completely removed, the space under the bonnet remained empty. Instead, a six-cylinder diesel engine was mounted on the chassis behind the cab, which drives both the three axles and the snow blower via gears, shafts and chains. The У2Д6-250ТК type engine is basically a "halved" tank engine. As a V12 with two cylinder banks and significantly higher power, it was used in many Soviet tanks since the T-34 . The six-cylinder engine has a displacement of just over 19 liters and an output of 250 hp (184 kW). The augers of the snow blower consist of steel tubes that are wrapped in a spiral with metal sheets and welded. A rotor sits behind the auger and throws the snow to the side. The direction and angle of the discharge can be adjusted hydraulically.
Different versions of the milling machine were built. For operation on airfields with wide runways, the ejection distance of the snow was increased, but the throughput was lower. For the road service, however, the snow was not thrown as far, but the clearing capacity was increased to 1000 t / h and more. For these versions, the maximum road speed was increased to 50 km / h, which played a minor role at airfields. The speed of rotation of the screws was increased from 318 to 354 min −1 . In 1982 the machine received the state seal of approval of the USSR .
As with the predecessor, small changes were made to the vehicle in addition to the drive train. The front bumper was omitted without replacement, the headlights were dismantled and relocated to the cab roof. If major changes were made, the variants were given their own names. There were versions with more modern diesel engines as well as on other trucks. Since the early 1970s (at another Soviet plant), the D-902 , a more powerful snow blower based on the Ural-375, was also built.
It is not known exactly until when the machines were manufactured. Series production is documented until at least 2003. Sewdormasch has been insolvent since 2009, the factory premises are used for other purposes.
D-470 snow blowers were used both militarily and civilly. A large part was found at military airports in the Soviet Army , but they were also used in civil airports and in road service. As with the predecessor, some copies made it to the GDR.
Model variants
Due to the long construction period of around 40 years, both the engine and chassis changed several times, which led to different model variants. The list does not claim to be complete.
- DE-210 or D-707 - basic version, built from 1968. On the chassis of the ZIL-131 and equipped with in-line six-cylinder type U2D6-250TK.
- DE-210A - Revised version with improvements to the drive train and the hydraulic system.
- DE-210B-1A - Equipped with JaMZ-236 V6 diesel engine (11.15 l displacement)
- DE-210B-1M - Either equipped with a V8 diesel engine JaMZ-238M2 or with an R6 diesel engine of type U2D6-TK-S5.
-
DE-210B-3 - With ZIL-433422 as the base vehicle.
- DE-210B-3A - With JaMZ-236M2 V6 diesel engine.
- DE-210B-3M - With JaMZ-238M2 V8 diesel engine.
- DE-210S - Equipped with double glazing, for example, for particularly cold areas.
- DE-210U - Also known as the KO-605M, based on the chassis of the Ural-43203 .
