history
2015: Debut with Do It Amazing
In February 2015, MBK Entertainment published the first details about the formation of a new girl group. Originally the group was supposed to be put together in a casting show called "T-ara's Little Sister Girl Group". MBK Entertainment rejected these plans again and announced in June that the members of the new group would be determined internally. At the end of June the name of the new group was published: DIA . On September 14th, DIA officially debuted with the single Somehow and the album Do It Amazing.
2016–2017: Seunghee's exit and sub-units
In early 2016, the line-up of the group changed for the first time. Chaeyeon and Huihyeon (at that time still called Cathy) left the group for a short time in order to be able to participate as trainees in the casting show "Produce 101". In March, Eunchae (introduced as Chaewon) was added to the group. Seunghee left the group in April after her contract with MBK Entertainment expired. Chaeyeon and Huihyeon both made it to the final of Produce 101, but only Chaeyeon could fight for a place in the temporary girl group IOI with rank 7 . She returned to DIA in May and was active in both groups until the IOI was dissolved in January 2017. Huihyeon came in 19th and returned right after Produce 101 ended. On June 14, 2016, the EP Happy Ending was released together with the single On the Road ( 그 길 에서 ) . The EP Spell was released on September 13, 2016 together with the single Mr. Potter .
At the end of December 2016, the establishment of two sub-units was announced: BinChaenHyunSeuS with Yebin, Chaeyeon, Huihyeon, Eunice and LUB with Jueun, Jenny, Eunchae. Both groups released a digital single each.
In April 2017, two new members were added to the group, Jueun and Somyi. On April 19, DIA's second studio album YOLO was released along with the single Will You Go Out With Me? ( 나랑 사귈래? ) . DIA's third EP Love Generation was released on August 22nd along with the single Can't Stop (듣고 싶어) . Love Generation was re-released on October 12 under the name Present .
2018 – today: Eunjin's exit and WooWoo
On May 7, 2018, Eunjin left the group for health reasons.
DIA's fourth EP Summer Ade was released on August 9, 2018 together with the single WooWoo ( 우우 ) . With WooWoo , the group achieved their first victory at a music show.
On March 19, 2019 DIA's fifth EP Newtro was released together with the single Woowa ( 우와 ) .
MBK Entertainment announced on July 6, 2019 that Jenny had left the group for health reasons ( osteomalacia in the knee).
On 10 June 2020 appeared Flower 4 Seasons , the sixth EP of the group, along with the single Hug U . MBK Entertainment announced that the group would only play five people on this comeback, excluding Chaeyeon and Somyi. Reasons for the absence of the two were not given.
