The DR 137 028 to 030 series were railcars from the Wismar wagon factory . They were manufactured in 1932 as the first type of 302 kW multiple unit with electrical power transmission and delivered in 1934. Of the three railcars produced, the VT 137 030 remained with the Deutsche Reichsbahn after the Second World War and was in service until 1969.
history
The three railcars were built at the same time as the 300 HP railcars DR 137 025 to 027 . These vehicles were the first to be painted in the uniform paint scheme that was valid from 1932 and consisted of ivory on the window band , wine-red on the rest of the side wall, silver on the roof and black on the underframe and color dividing lines.
The vehicles were accepted in 1934 at RAW Dessau . First work site was the depot P Hall . The 137 029 was subjected to test drives from February to April 1934 by the Grunewald Locomotive Research Office . The vehicles were used in Halle until the start of the war . At the beginning of the war they were initially shut down and later used as emergency power generators .
During the first period of use, the vehicles had a low mileage with the Maybach GO 5 engine. The average trouble-free mileage averaged 32,000 kilometers or five months. Likewise, the range between the smallest and the largest mileage without expansion was between 1,000 and 94,000 kilometers.
Two vehicles were destroyed in the war, the third remained with the Deutsche Reichsbahn after the war. He was assigned to the Leipzig railway depot. The railcar was retired in 1969.
vehicle description
The car body was made of lightweight construction and was similar to the DR 137 058… 079 delivered later .
The drive system consisted of the Maybach GO 5 diesel engine and the electrical equipment that was also used in the DR 872 to 874 that were delivered in the same year .
