Otto Persch

Otto August Barsch (born November 5, 1879 in Költschen , Oststernberg district , † October 6, 1946 ) was a German geologist and geophysicist .

Life

Barsch worked from 1907 to 1939 at the Prussian State Geological Institute , whose geophysics department he headed. Between 1912 and 1934 he worked on various sheets of the Prussian geological map for the state institute.

Barschs 1908 published Inaugural - Dissertation treated the pseudo-Cannel coal . This was also published in the yearbook of the Prussian Geological State Institute.

In 1940 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .

In 1945 he and Ferdinand Friedensburg became 1st President of the German State Geological Institute in the Soviet zone of occupation .

He taught as a professor at the Humboldt University in Berlin .
