DR KoncertKoret

The DR KoncertKoret is a radio choir founded by Danmarks Radio in 1932 and based in Copenhagen . It was founded with the aim of performing a wide repertoire of oratorios and vocal symphonic works with the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra . The mixed choir consists of 74 professional singers, 31 of which can form a chamber choir .

The choir was u. a. Conducted by Fritz Busch , Rafael Kubelík , Sergiu Celibidache , Kurt Sanderling , Giuseppe Sinopoli , Marek Janowski , Christoph Eschenbach , Herbert Blomstedt , Leif Segerstam , Ulf Schirmer and Gerd Albrecht . As early as 1937, Mogens Wöldike founded a small chamber choir for a cappella performances and contemporary works. The chief conductors included u. a. John Alldis (1972–1977), Per Enevold (1985–1988) and Stefan Parkman (1989–2002). Uwe Gronostay was the choir's first guest conductor from 1992 to 1998 and Stephen Layton from 1999 to 2002 . Bart Van Reyn has been leading the orchestra since 2016 .

Works by composers such as Per Nørgård , Hans Werner Henze , James MacMillan , Karlheinz Stockhausen , Luciano Berio , Sven-David Sandström , György Ligeti and Krzysztof Penderecki are part of the ensemble's repertoire. Numerous CDs document the work of the ensemble, have appeared a.o. a. with Dacapo Records and Decca Records as well as an exclusive contract with Chandos Records . In 2015 the DR KoncertKoret was awarded the Diapason d'or de l'année for the choral music recording of Messiaen's L'Amour et la Foi .

In addition to the orchestra of the Danish radio, the Choir u. a. with the Copenhagen Philharmonic , Concerto Copenhagen and the Malmö Symphony Orchestra . The choir performed a. a. at Stockholm New Music, Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival , Tampere Vocal Music Festival, Festival Présences and BBC Proms . Since 1948 the choir has toured Denmark repeatedly; Guest appearances have taken him to Europe, North America and Australia.
