technology

Development and technology

The DSR 1 was designed as a compact weapon: The development goal was a length of less than one meter with a 650 mm barrel length in .308 Winchester caliber. It was therefore developed in the so-called bullpup design.

The weapon was developed for the strong .338 Lapua Magnum caliber (8.6 × 70 mm) and then modified for other calibers. The repeating rifle is equipped with a free-swinging barrel and uses a bolt that is locked directly in the barrel with six lugs arranged in two rows.

The bolt handle is - just run and relatively short, but sits much closer to the bolt head to length to save - as with most Militärrepetierern. The grip has a large trigger guard so that the shooter can operate the weapon with gloves. The direct trigger, like the foldable shoulder rest, is completely individually adjustable.

Equipment and extensions

The precision rifle is equipped with a ground spur with quick and fine adjustment and a bipod as standard . The bipod of this weapon is suspended and, thanks to its spherical suspension, guarantees mobility in all directions while reducing the hinderance of the shooter. For the attachment of the rifle scope (ZF) an extended Picatinny rail is installed, which enables not only the assembly of the ZF but also the assembly of a night vision device .

The weapon was designed as a modular system: It is easy to switch between the .300 Winchester Magnum (7.62 × 67 mm), .308 Winchester ( 7.62 × 51 mm NATO ) and .338 Lapua Magnum calibers to match the respective application conditions. A silencer is available for all variants - except for the DSR 50 - which effectively dampens the muzzle bang and fire and thus helps to disguise the shooter's position even when using normal supersonic ammunition. A special feature is the front magazine holder, which is intended to reduce reloading time and balance the weapon during handling.

Model variants

In addition to the normal variants in the above-mentioned calibers, DSR-precision produces two special forms of the DSR 1 :

  • DSR 1 Subsonic : This is a variant with an integrated silencer. The special feature is that the silencer does not touch the free-swinging barrel, but only surrounds it and thus does not impair the precision of the weapon. The muffler is equipped with primary and secondary expansion chambers and a throttle insert. The barrel length is - in the only .308 Winchester caliber available as a Subsonic - only 310 mm. In order to suppress the muzzle and sonic boom, the use of subsonic ammunition is required, the use of which the manufacturer expressly recommends.
  • DSR 50 : A version of the DSR 1 in the heavy 12.7 × 99 mm NATO caliber . This weapon is mainly used as an anti-materiel rifle and for very long distances.
