The DS 6 is an SUV from the French PSA Group that was sold under the DS Automobiles brand . The DS 6 was produced in China between 2014 and 2020 by the French-Chinese Chang'an PSA joint venture . After the DS 5LS, it is the second vehicle from DS Automobiles that is exclusively produced in China and only marketed in Asia .
With a length of 4.55 m (compared to 4.70 m for the DS Wild Rubis concept vehicle ), a width of 1.86 m and a height of 1.61 m and a wheelbase of 2.73 m, there is no connection whatsoever with the Compact SUV Citroën C4 Aircross based on the Mitsubishi ASX built in Japan .
history
The DS Wild Rubis concept vehicle , which was presented at Auto Shanghai in April 2013 , already anticipated the approximate lines of the DS 6, with the chrome roof rails, which ends at the end of the rear side window, deserving particular mention. The DS 6, which had its world premiere on April 20, 2014 at the Beijing Auto Show , features the "DS Wings" radiator grille, which was introduced into series production with the DS 5LS. In addition, the e-THP 160 petrol engines are available with an automatic start-stop system and the THP 200 in conjunction with a 6- speed automatic transmission. The DS 6 has front-wheel drive , but uses as the Peugeot 2008 and 3008 , the Intelligent Traction Control , d. H. a traction control system for surfaces with poor grip. The DS 6 was built at the Citroën plant in Shenzhen (CAPSA) in China on an assembly line parallel to the DS 4S , DS5 and DS 5LS , as all three vehicles share the BHV2 platform. The model was offered on the Chinese market from September 27, 2014.
At the presentation of the Wild Rubis, Citroën General Director Frédéric Banzet initially announced that the DS 6 would only be sold in China and neighboring countries, but not exported to Europe. In view of the response from the press and customers in Europe, DS chief designer Thierry Métroz later announced that the DS 6 could be exported to Europe. But this did not happen. It wasn't until 2018 that DS entered the European SUV market with the DS 7 Crossback .
