The DS 3 Crossback is a crossover SUV from the DS Automobiles brand belonging to the French PSA group .

history

For the electric version E-Tense we worked with the Chinese group Dongfeng Motor Corporation .

The vehicle was presented on September 13, 2018 in the DS Design Studio in Paris . The five-seater had its public premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October 2018. The DS 3 Crossback has been in production since December 2018 at the Poissy automobile plant , where the DS 3 was continued to be built until summer 2019 . The car was launched on the German market in April 2019.

technology

As the first vehicle from the PSA Group, the DS 3 Crossback is based on the Common Modular Platform (CMP), on which other models such as the Opel Corsa F or the Peugeot 2008 II are based.

The center console comes from the larger DS 7 Crossback , as with this one there are three different interior variants ("inspirations") to choose from. A foam treatment and the use of two different foam densities in the seats provide special seating comfort even in comparison with higher vehicle classes. New in this vehicle class are the u. a. recessed door handles known from Tesla .

In the electric version, the battery (50 kWh) is cooled with a liquid and a heat pump distributes the heating energy between the battery and the interior. The strength of the recuperation can be adjusted with a switch.

landing gear

The combustion models have a torsion beam axle at the rear , while the electric E-Tense has a space-saving trailing arm axle at the rear .

safety

In the summer of 2019, the DS 3 Crossback was tested for vehicle safety by Euro NCAP . In the basic version, the car received four out of five possible stars. Since a safety package is optionally available for the model, the crossover SUV was also tested with the safety package. In this test, it received five stars out of five.

Furnishing

The equipment lines Chic, So chic, Performance Line and the limited introductory version La Premiere are offered. In principle, the roof can be painted separately in white, red or black on request. Also LED matrix headlights , LED tail lights with turn signals chaser, a head-up display and adaptive cruise control are available. All versions offer an adjustable steering wheel.

Technical specifications

The DS 3 Crossback can choose from three drive variants, initially with six power levels: a 1.2-liter gasoline engine , which is the updated version of the multiple award-winning PureTech engine , a 1.5-liter diesel engine and a 100 kW (136 PS) electric motor . The electric version with 50 kWh battery enables a range according to WLTP of over 300 km and should be 80 percent recharged within 30 minutes at a 100 kW charging station. At home or at other AC power points, the DS3 E-Tense can be charged three-phase with up to 11 kW.
