The Mitsubishi ASX (in Japan Mitsubishi RVR in North America Mitsubishi Outlander Sport ) is a so-called crossover model of the Japanese car maker Mitsubishi Motors and is based on the concept car Mitsubishi Concept-cX , which at the Frankfurt Motor Show was presented of 2007.

General

Based on the Mitsubishi RVR , which has been sold in Japan since February 2010 , the ASX is powered by an 86 kW (117 PS) 1.6-liter gasoline engine or a 1.8-liter diesel with variable valve control and 110 kW (150 PS) driven. The diesel variant is the world's first diesel car to have a variable valve control ( MIVEC ) and is also available with front or all-wheel drive. Like the Mitsubishi Colt (Z30) , the ASX is also equipped with the "ClearTec" package to reduce CO 2 emissions.

The wheelbase of the Mitsubishi ASX is, like the Mitsubishi Outlander , 2670 millimeters.

The market launch in Europe took place on June 19, 2010.

Between 2012 and 2017, two sister models of the ASX, Citroën C4 Aircross and Peugeot 4008 , which were also produced by Mitsubishi, were sold.

Engines

The Mitsubishi ASX is offered in a petrol and two diesel versions. However, the all-wheel drive (permanent all-wheel drive, marketing name: Mitsubishi All Wheel Control (AWC)) is only delivered in combination with the diesel engine. From the facelift 2019 also in combination with the 2.0 Mivec engine and CVT transmission. The 2.2 DI-D engine is only available in conjunction with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Facelift

In October 2012, the ASX was slightly redesigned.

The facelift is particularly recognizable on the front by the modified radiator grille as well as on other bumpers and the modified rear section. No changes were made to the engines.

Another visual revision of the ASX took place in autumn 2016, an additional update, in particular the centrally positioned rear fog light and the rear apron, took place in 2017. The safety systems were also raised to a current level. The ASX now has head and knee airbags as standard. A brake assistant can also be configured.

At the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019, the ASX was presented with another revision.

In Euro NCAP - Crash test the vehicle in 2013 was rated with five stars out of five. In the adult occupant safety rating, the tested vehicle achieved 86% and the child occupant safety 78%. The vehicle received 60% of the points in the area of ​​pedestrian protection and 71% in the safety systems.

Registration numbers

Since the market launch up to and including December 2019, 88,885 Mitsubishi ASXs have been newly registered in the Federal Republic of Germany. Although the vehicle was already in its eighth year of sales in 2017, never before has so many units been registered.
