The Mitsubishi Mizushima ( Japanese 三菱 ・ み ず し ま ) is a series of three-wheeled delivery vans that Mitsubishi Heavy Industries produced between 1946 and 1962. The construction was mechanically simple, but kept robust in order to be able to transport around 400 kg payload. There was a folding top behind the 2-seater bench that reached up to the windshield. Together with the Mitsubishi Silver Pigeon , the model was Mitsubishi's contribution to the rapidly growing demand for vehicles in post-war Japan.

Vehicle history

Over the years, larger payloads and other body styles have been offered. The TM3D model introduced in 1948 with a hardtop above the passenger cabin was introduced in response to customer requirements, and there were also models with a closed box body.

In 1955 the series became the Mitsubishi Pickup-Go , which in a special version could transport a payload of up to two tons.

Mitsubishi Leo

The Mitsubishi Leo introduced in 1959, which was heavily influenced by the Mizushima, was a transitional model between the first post-war vehicle and the Mitsubishi Minica , which meant the future of the company in the 1960s and which resulted in Mitsubishi Motors in 1970 .

The Leo used a 309 cc air-cooled single cylinder engine (ME20) and had 12.5 hp at 4,500 revolutions per minute. The payload was 300 kg and the top speed was 65 km / h. A total of around 90,000 copies of the series were produced before it was replaced by the Mitsubishi Minicab in 1962 .
