The Mitsubishi Toppo is a small recreational vehicle that Mitsubishi Motors manufactured from 1990 to 2004. The car was derived from the Minica . Its name is a contraction of the English "top" (roof) and the Japanese "noppo" (slight).
The vehicles were equipped with a three-cylinder in-line engine with 657 cm³ and 30-46 HP (22-34 kW) or a four-cylinder in-line engine with 659 cm³ and 50-55 HP (37-40 kW). There were manual four or five-speed transmissions, as well as automatic transmissions with three or four stages.
Originally the car was called Mitsubishi Minica Toppo , which had been in two generations. A retro version was introduced in 1997 under the name Mitsubishi Minica Toppo Town Bee .
In 1998 a new generation was introduced, which was named Mitsubishi Toppo BJ ("Big Joy"). A larger version, the Toppo BJ Wide , was introduced in 1999. In 2004 the production of the model was stopped.
A specially equipped version of Mitsubishi eK has been available as Toppo since 2008 .
