The Mitsubishi Pistachio (~ pistachio) is a three-door microcar produced by Mitsubishi Motors in December 1999 on the platform of the Mitsubishi Minica . Only 50 copies were sold in either lemon yellow or Loire green at a price of ¥ 959,000 to local authorities and public bodies. It was driven by a 1094 cm³ 4A31-DOHC-16V direct-injection gasoline engine with 54 kW or 73 hp output at 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 100 Nm at 4000 rpm. It was designed to minimize fuel consumption and pollutant emissions as well. The Pistachio had a curb weight of 700 kg, light aluminum wheels with 135/80 R13 tires, electric power steering, exhaust manifolds made of stainless steel, an aluminum bonnet and thin-walled glazing all around. In addition to Mitsubishi GDI technology, it also had a start-stop system that switched the engine off while the vehicle was stationary and automatically restarted when the clutch was pressed.
