The Dalmacija was a cruise ship that entered service in 1965 for the Croatian Jadranska Linijska Plovidba . In his 43 years continuous service the ship changed its owner several times before it retired in 2008 and 2010 in the Indian Alang was scrapped.
history
The Dalmacija was built under construction number 243 at Brodogradiliste Uljanik in Pula and was launched in March 1964. On August 27, 1964, an explosion occurred on board the ship during equipment work, in which three workers were killed. The Dalmacija sank at the equipment dock and could only be delivered to her owner in April 1965 after extensive repairs.
In the following 28 years the ship was used in the liner service between Venice and Alexandria . In the winter months it was used for cruises in the Mediterranean . From 1993 the Dalmacija was only used as a cruise ship on changing routes after a renovation.
In the following years the ship changed its operator several times: In December 1997 it went to Intercruise, based in Rijeka , and in 2002 to United Shipping Services Two. In 2007 the Dalmacija went to its last operator, Adriatic Cruises . After the 2008 season, the now 43-year-old ship was decommissioned and, after more than a year of layover, sold for scrapping in Alang, India, where it arrived on December 10, 2009. The demolition of the Dalmacija began in January 2010.
Sister ship
The sister ship of the Dalmacija was the Istra , which was also commissioned in 1965 and was scrapped in Aliaga in 2018.
