Damasak is a border town in Borno state in Nigeria . It is the capital of the Local Government Area Mobbar on the border with Niger .

geography

The landscape is a dry savannah in the central Chad basin . Eight kilometers southwest of the city center of Damasak, the Komadugu Yobe and Komaduga Gana rivers converge.

A road runs south to Maiduguri and east to Baga .

history

Damasak was conquered by Boko Haram fighters on November 24, 2014 . In March 2015, the city was retaken by soldiers from Chad and Niger . Perhaps as an act of revenge, up to 350 women and children are said to have been abducted around March 25, 2015 and several people were killed.
