The women's ice hockey Bundesliga of the 2005/06 season was closely interwoven with the Elite Women's Hockey League , with whose Austrian representatives a joint playoff for the national championship was held. The defending champions were EHV Sabers Vienna , but they lost their championship to EC The Ravens Salzburg .
mode
A basic round (women's ice hockey Bundesliga, "DEBL") with a simple round trip was played in which six teams took part. The four best teams met in a playoff against the four Austrian teams ( DEC Dragons Klagenfurt , EC The Ravens Salzburg , Vienna Flyers , EHV Sabers Vienna ), who played in the EWHL ( Elite Women's Hockey League ):

The quarter-finals were played back and forth. A best of three mode was played in the semifinals, the final and the third place match.
