Damjan Georgiew Saberski (common transcription: Damyan Georgiev Zaberski , Bulgarian Дамян Георгиев Заберски ; born April 7, 1929 in Malko Tarnowo , Burgas Oblast ; † January 23, 2006 in Burgas ) was a Bulgarian painter and restorer . He became known for his landscapes and especially for his pictures from his home region Strandscha and seascapes.

Saberski studied painting at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia . After graduating from Ilija Petrow in 1955 , Saberski did his doctorate in Paris, France. Later on, Saberski started working as a restorer at the Institute for the Protection and Conservation of Cultural Monuments at the Ministry of Culture in Sofia. For his training as a restorer he was sent to Prague and Halle to specialize. As the person in charge of the Institute for Eastern Bulgaria, he took part in restoration work throughout Bulgaria a. a. in the Batschkowo Monastery and in the Aladscha Monastery . The focus of his work was in his home region of Burgas, where he restored the churches “Holy Brothers Cyril and Method ” in Burgas , “Sweti Spas”, “Sweti Stefan”, “Holy Mother Mary”, “Holy Brothers Cyril and Method” in Nessebar , "Sweti Kliment von Ohrid " on the island of St. Anastasia . In 1980, Saberski and other painters painted the interior walls of the SOU “Jordan Jowkow” school in Burgas on the subject of “ Jowkow and his heroes”.

On December 6, 2000, Saberski received the title of "Honorary Citizen of Burgas City". Saberski had many exhibitions at home and abroad (including Paris , Prague, Halle, Chicago ). His last was in Burgas in December 2005. Countless works by Saberski are now in the possession of many art galleries u. a. the national art gallery in Sofia, the municipal art gallery in Burgas and private art lovers in Bulgaria, the rest of Europe and America.
