The Dammsee is a lake in the north of the state of Brandenburg on the border with Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

shape

The water is rich in lime and not stratified. It has an area of 1.93 km² with a maximum extension of 2.7 by 1.1 kilometers. Two peninsulas jutting out into the lake from the south divide it into three basins. It encloses four islands, one in the southwest, two in the middle and one in the northeast basin.

Surroundings

The lake is part of a ground moraine area .

It is located in the municipality of Nordwestuckermark with the village of Fürstenwerder on the south-west bank. The villages of Hildebrandshagen and Georginenau, districts of the city of Woldegk, are on the north bank of Mecklenburg . The lake area and the Brandenburg area belong to the nature reserve Norduckermärkische Seenlandschaft and to the nature park Uckermärkische Seen , the Mecklenburg shores to the nature park Feldberger Seenlandschaft . The lake is mainly surrounded by meadows and farmland.

Water network and water balance

The Dammsee is traversed by the Köhntop , a tributary of the Ucker / Uecker . Its inlet section from the Great Lake near Fürstenwerder is only 330 m long, and the outlet section is usually called Landgraben up to Wolfshagener Haussee . With the help of ArcEGMO, the Brandenburg LfU has calculated a twenty-year mean of 0.28 m³ / s for the inflow from the Great Lake and 0.33 m³ / s for the discharge into the Landgraben. The difference of 0.5 m³ / s mostly comes from three smaller open tributaries. According to the information provided by the office, the lake level is well above the surrounding groundwater, the lake floor is barely water-permeable and the precipitation / evaporation balance of the lake area is roughly balanced.
