Daniel Stephen Oppland (born January 7, 1984 ) is an American basketball player .
career
Oppland, whose twin brother Mike also worked as a professional basketball player after his university days, played at Valparaiso University until 2006 . With 1780 points, he took third place on the university's eternal basketball list.
In 2006 Oppland started his first job as a professional basketball player and was under contract with the Dutch honorary divisionist Groningen. This was followed by engagements in Poland and Sweden (with Lulea he also competed in the European Cup), before the winger went to BBC Bayreuth in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA in Germany in January 2008 . After one and a half years as a service provider in Bayreuth, Oppland moved to the Austrian Bundesliga club Swans Gmunden . In 2010 he won the Austrian championship title with Gmunden and the cup competition in 2010, 2011 and 2012. In all four years with the "Swans" he scored more than 13 points per game per season, the best value was 14.9 points on average in the 2012/13 game year.
In the 2013/14 season, Oppland played for the Finnish first division club Lahti, and since 2014 he has been under contract with the German second division club Nuremberg . In the 2017/18 season he achieved the highest value of his time in francs with an average of 13.3 points per match. The fact that Oppland was brought to Nuremberg by Ralph Junge in 2014 was later described by the club as “one of the best personnel decisions our coach has ever made”.
At the end of May 2018, Nuremberg's second division rival USC Heidelberg announced Oppland's commitment. After a year in Heidelberg, Oppland moved to SSV Lokomotive Bernau in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB .
