Dan Zerfass

Dan Zerfaß (* 1968 in Simmern ) is a German church musician.

He was a student of regional cantor Franz Leinhäuser ( Oberwesel ). He finished his studies at the Musikhochschule in Frankfurt in 1992 with the A-exam as a church musician and in 1993 with the concert exam as an organist. Formative teachers were especially Edgar Krapp (organ), Wolfgang Schäfer (choir and orchestra direction) and Godehard Joppich (Gregorian chant). Master classes with Daniel Roth , Wolfgang Rübsam and Guy Bovet (organ), Egidius Doll , Peter Planyavsky and Theo Brandmüller (improvisation) as well as Günther Ludwig (piano) complemented his training.

In 1989 Dan Zerfaß became church musician at St. Albert in Frankfurt and in 1996 regional cantor of the diocese of Mainz at St. Bonifatius in Bad Nauheim. Since 1999 he has been cathedral choirmaster at St. Peter in Worms . From 1993 to 1997 he taught liturgical organ playing at the Musikhochschule in Karlsruhe and is currently supervising an organ literature class at the music department of the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. In addition, he works as an organ expert on behalf of the Diocese of Mainz and works in the artistic direction of the International Organ Festival Weeks in the Rhineland-Palatinate cultural summer .
