Daniel Alberto Díaz , called "Cata" Díaz (born July 13, 1979 in Catamarca ) is an Argentine football player who is under contract with CF Fuenlabrada .

Player career

National

He owes his nickname "Cata" to his Argentine hometown of Catamarca . In 1997, at the age of 18, he moved to the youth team of the traditional Argentinian club Rosario Central , for whose first team he played for three years from 2000 to 2003. In 2003 he finally ventured abroad for the first time. Despite a regular place at the Mexican club Cruz Azul , he returned to Argentina only a year later . Under coach Alfio Basile , he became the captain of Colón de Santa Fe .

For three million dollars he moved again after just one year in 2005 to the Boca Juniors with whom he was able to win five titles in just two years. Thanks to his strong performance at Boca, he was signed in 2007 for four million euros by the Spanish first division club Getafe . At the Madrid suburban club, he was able to convince right away and completed 165 top division games in the following five years. For the 2012/13 season he moved to Atlético Madrid . After a year, Díaz returned to the Boca Juniors.

International

At the Copa America 2007 in Venezuela he was part of the Argentine squad, appointed by his ex-coach Alfio Basile .
