Daniel Born (born September 17, 1975 in Speyer ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and a member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament .

Life

After graduating from high school in Schwetzingen, Daniel Born studied law at the University of Konstanz . He completed his legal traineeship in Mannheim and New York City with the second state examination and then joined the Federal Employment Agency , where he was most recently in charge of academic mediation, career and study orientation at grammar schools and advising on the university team in Karlsruhe.

Born joined the SPD in 1991 and took on various party offices here and at the Jusos . He was a member of the Oberhausen-Rheinhausen municipal council from 2009 to 2016 and the district council in the Karlsruhe district . Daniel Born has been a member of the application commission since 2017 and a member of the state board of the Baden-Württemberg SPD since 2018.

In 2013, Daniel Born won the first member survey for an SPD Bundestag candidacy with 59.6% in the Bruchsal-Schwetzingen constituency . In the following federal election he was defeated by the CDU candidate. He was nominated for the state elections in 2016 and won a second mandate in the Schwetzingen constituency .

Daniel Born is a member of the state parliament's economic and education committee. The SPD parliamentary group has elected him as its spokesman for housing and labor market policy and as its spokesman for early childhood education and elementary schools. He also represents his parliamentary group in the State Advisory Council for Acceptance and Equal Rights of the Ministry of Social Affairs. Since 2019 he has also been chairman of the Economic Working Group of the SPD parliamentary group in Baden-Württemberg.

Political positions

Daniel Born is committed to the free daycare. In the context of a state parliament debate on this topic, he described daycare fees as a “family tax that must be abolished immediately”.

Other functions and memberships

Daniel Born is a volunteer film examiner for the voluntary self-regulation of the film industry and is involved in various functions with the workers' welfare organization . He is an honorary member of the media council of the LfK , the board of trustees of the Bundesakademie Trossingen , the board of trustees of the Stiftung Kinderland Baden-Württemberg , the board of PLUS Rhein-Neckar eV and the application commission of the Baden-Württemberg SPD .
