Daniel Felix à Wengen (* 1957 in Allschwil ) is a Swiss ENT doctor and inventor .

Life

À Wengen grew up in Muttenz . After graduating from high school , he studied human medicine at the University of Basel . He graduated from the 1982 state exam and received his doctorate in 1985. This was followed by training in Aarau Cantonal Hospital and the University Hospital of Basel , which he in 1991 with the FMH - specialist title for Oto-Rhino-Laryngology completed.

He then spent two years in continuing education and research at the University of California, Davis and Stanford University . There he initiated the development of the "Vibrant Soundbridge" hearing aid and made it the subject of his habilitation thesis Semi- Implantable Middle Ear Hearing Aid . À Wengen obtained his habilitation in 1998 at the University of Basel. The "Vibrant Soundbridge" became known to a broader audience through guest appearances on Puls on SRF 1 and Health Consultation on SRF 2 . Other inventions followed such as the stapes clip prosthesis , the Breathe implant and the septum clip .

Daniel F. à Wengen runs a practice clinic for ear, nose and aesthetic facial surgery in Binningen , operates in the Bethesda Hospital in Basel and is a delegate of the Swiss Society for Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Neck and Facial Surgery. He specializes in surgical interventions on the nose and ears. He is also active as a lecturer and speaker at international congresses and universities. There he regularly performs live operations to explain his surgical techniques to colleagues around the world.

Daniel F. à Wengen has over twenty internationally registered patents , mainly in the field of hearing implants , nose implants and other medical devices .
