Daniel Gschwandtner (born September 25, 1990 ) is an Austrian grass skier . He starts for the Bad Tatzmannsdorf ski club and is a member of the A-team of the Austrian Ski Association . His brother Philipp was also a grass skier.

Career

Gschwandtner drove his first FIS race in May 2005. In his second race, the slalom of Urnäsch on May 29, he achieved twelfth place, his best result of the season. In July he took part in the Junior World Championships 2005 in Nové Město na Moravě , Czech Republic . He was able to classify himself in all four competitions and achieved 22nd place in the combination as the best result. In the 2006 season he was only among the top 30 in two FIS races. In 2007, Gschwandtner was among the top 20 in four FIS races. In September of the same year, he also took part in World Cup races for the first time in his home town of Rettenbach . He finished 27th in the super combined and won his first World Cup points. In the overall ranking of the 2007 season he finished 46th. At the Junior World Championships 2007 in Welschnofen , his only result was 18th place in the Super-G.

In the 2008 season , Gschwandtner competed in seven world cup races. On July 6th he finished eighth in the slalom of Čenkovice for the first and so far only time among the top ten. In the overall standings he was able to improve to 24th place. At the Junior World Championships in 2008 Gschwandtner was twice in the top ten. In the slalom, he took eighth place at the same time as his brother and in the super combined he was tenth. In the giant slalom and in the Super-G, he was 17th in each case. In the 2009 season, Gschwandtner was in the top 20 five times in eleven World Cup races and was 17th overall. At the Junior World Championships 2009 in Horní Lhota u Ostravy reached a fifth place each in slalom and super combination. In the Super-G he was tenth, but in the giant slalom he was disqualified after a goal error in the first run. In September 2009, the Burgenland competed for the first time in a world championship in the general class. In his hometown of Rettenbach, he was able to rank among the top 30 in all four competitions: In slalom he was ranked 20th, in the super combination ranked 21st, in giant slalom ranked 26th and in the super-G ranked 29th.

In June 2010 Daniel Gschwandtner became Austrian junior champion in giant slalom and combined. In the 2010 World Cup season , he only took part in six of the eleven races and was four times among the fastest 15, which, however, dropped him to 33rd place in the overall World Cup. At the 2010 Junior World Championships in Dizin , he was among the top ten in three competitions. He was eighth in the giant slalom and the super-G as well as ninth in the super combined. In the slalom, however, he was eliminated. In the 2011 season , Gschwandtner started in a few FIS races only in two World Cup races at the beginning of July. His best World Cup result this year was 13th place in the super combination of Olešnice v Orlických horách . He did not take part in the 2011 World Cup. In 2012 Gschwandtner did not contest any competitions.
