Daniel Klugkist (born March 8, 1748 in Bremen , † September 20, 1814 in Bremen) was a lawyer and Bremen councilor and Bremen mayor .

biography

Klugkist was the son of Mayor Hieronymus Klugkist (1748–1814). He was married to the merchant's daughter Johanne Nonnen and his second marriage to Elisabeth Wichelhausen. Senator Hieronymus Klugkist (1778–1851) is one of the three sons from the second marriage.

He graduated from the pedagogy and from 1763 the Illustre grammar school in Bremen . After graduating from high school, he studied law at the University of Marburg from 1768 and was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD.

In 1775 he became Bremen councilor in the Bremen council . From May 28, 1802 to June 17, 1814, he succeeded Justin Friedrich Wilhelm Iken as mayor of Bremen . In the intervening French period in Bremen , he was provisional mayor from January 1 to July 1, 1811 (French: Maire ). He was followed in 1811 by Wilhelm Ernst Wichelhausen as Mayor and in 1814 by Georg Gröning as Mayor.

Klugkist was accepted into the Masonic lodge Zu den drey Löwen in Marburg and was later a member of the lodge Zum Silber Schlüssel in Bremen.

The Klugkist country house , today the Borgward house in Bremen- Horn-Lehe , Horner Heerstraße 11, was built as an estate in 1750 by Mayor Hieronymus Klugkist, who bequeathed it to his son Daniel Klugkist.

Honors

The Klugkiststraße in Bremen-Schwachhausen was named after the family.
