Daniel Müller (born February 23, 1928 in Balsthal ; † January 10, 2019 ; resident in Balsthal) was a Swiss politician ( FDP ) who was active until 1983.

Life

Family and work

Born Catholic Daniel Müller, born in Balsthal, son of the businessman Karl Müller and his wife Anna, born Bobst, completed a commercial apprenticeship after completing compulsory schooling. In 1958, Müller was appointed owner of his father's beverage trade with around 30 employees in Balsthal. In the same year he married. In the Swiss Army, Daniel Müller held the rank of colonel .

Political career

Müller joined the Liberal Democratic Party and was elected to the Solothurn Cantonal Council in 1965 , he resigned in 1973. In 1967 the people of Solothurn elected him to the National Council . There he chaired the military and later the business audit commission, in 1983 he resigned from the National Council. Daniel Müller also held the presidency of the cantonal party of the FDP and that of the cantonal trade association. The 1979 candidacy for the Council of States was unsuccessful.

During the economically tense 1970s, Daniel Müller rendered services in particular to promoting the development of his residential district Thal . In his role as President of the Thal Regional Planning Group, he successfully campaigned for the continued operation of the Oensingen-Balsthal Railway .
