Daniel Benjamin Mayr (born July 28, 1995 in Bonn ) is a German basketball player who is under contract with the EN Baskets Schwelm . The 2.18 m tall and 116 kg heavy indoor player was considered one of the greatest German talents in his position. He is the son of the former national basketball player Rolf Mayr .

Career

Mayr made his first attempts on the basketball court with the Dragons Rhöndorf . At the age of eleven, he was 1.78 m tall, which suggested a career as a basketball player. From 2008 to 2014 Mayr went basketball for Science City Jena in various leagues. On July 17, 2014, he signed a four-year contract with FC Bayern Munich . In the 92:51 home win of FC Bayern Basketball against TBB Trier on February 28, 2015, Daniel Mayr played the first game in the basketball Bundesliga of his career. Mayr was able to score three points and one block in a playing time of six minutes. During his time at Bayern, he completed 16 short appearances in the BBL and played mainly in the second Munich men's team, with which he won the championship title of the 1st Regionalliga Südost in the 2015/16 season.

In July 2016 Mayr moved from FC Bayern to Bundesliga competitor Skyliners Frankfurt . In the course of the 2016/17 season, he was not used in the Frankfurt Bundesliga team or in the Hessian youth development team in the ProB due to a knee injury that he sustained while he was in Munich. In May 2017 he had to undergo another knee operation. In the summer of 2018, Mayr and the Frankfurters separated. Due to the knee pain, he had not played a point game during his time in Frankfurt. In May 2019, Mayr was announced as a new addition by EN Baskets Schwelm (2nd Bundesliga ProB). After a long break from injury, he wanted to reconnect to competitive basketball there.
