Daniel Pudil (born September 27, 1985 in Prague ) is a Czech football player who is under contract with the Czech first division club FK Mladá Boleslav .
Club career
Daniel Pudil played for Sparta Prague in his youth . At the age of 18, the midfielder saw little prospect of asserting himself in the first team and moved to Chmel Blšany , where he was regularly used. After only half a year in Blšany , Pudil, who can also be used on the left back, was signed by Slovan Liberec .
The native of Prague quickly established himself in Liberec as well . He was one of the top performers in the 2005/06 championship team, scoring three goals in 29 games. In September 2007 he was loaned to Slavia Prague , in July 2008 the midfielder moved to the Belgian club KRC Genk . After the loan contract with the Italian first division club AC Cesena ended, Pudil did not return to his employer Granada CF , who had signed him until the end of June 2016, but went - again on loan - to the English second division club Watford in north London for a year . After a successful season with 37 appearances and third place in the table, the English signed him firmly. After two more years as a regular player, Watford finished the 2014/15 season in second place and rose to the Premier League . But since there was no more room for the Czech in the first division squad, he was loaned to the second division team Sheffield Wednesday the following year . There, too, he was able to establish himself again in the regular eleven. In 2019 he returned to the Czech Republic and signed with FK Mladá Boleslav .
National team
Pudil was used for the first time in the Czech national team on February 7, 2007 , when he came on the field in the game against Belgium in the second half for Tomáš Rosický . He was also nominated by coach Karel Brückner for the European Championship qualifiers against Germany and Cyprus at the end of March 2007 .
Pudil was in the preliminary squad of the Czech national team for the European Championship 2008 , but had to cancel the tournament due to a hand injury. Rudolf Skácel was appointed for Pudil .
From 2004 to 2006 Pudil was an integral part of the Czech U-21 selection , for which he played 14 games and scored one goal.
At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in the Czech squad . In the first two games he was not taken into account, but in the decisive game against Turkey he was on the field for the full 90 minutes. It ended in defeat and the team was eliminated.
