Daniel Schmahl

Daniel Schmahl (* 1969 in Potsdam ) is a German trumpeter (also Corno da Caccia , flugelhorn ), who has emerged as a soloist in both classical and jazz music.

Live and act

Schmahl grew up in a family of musicians; his father is the violinist Gustav Schmahl . From the age of four he received violin lessons , followed by lessons in singing , piano and bassoon before he discovered the trumpet at the age of 16 under the influence of Ludwig Güttler . Just one and a half years later he passed the entrance exam at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin ; He graduated from the Liszt School of Music Weimar in 1998 after taking master classes with Güttler, Malte Burba and the German Brass Ensemble .

Since 1999 he has performed as a freelance solo artist in the Philharmonie Berlin , the Philharmonie St. Petersburg , the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival , the Würzburger Bach Festival , the Leipzig Bach Festival , the Stuttgart Music Festival and many other events with a repertoire ranging from early music to early modern music and jazz. He also works as a lecturer for trumpet and horn and as artistic director of the youth wind orchestra at the Kon.centus district music school in Neubrandenburg .
