Wolfram Dix (born July 24, 1957 in Leipzig ) is a German drummer and percussionist of creative jazz .

Wolfram Dix ​​grew up in Machern and went to school there. He received drum lessons since 1970. He studied at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig . In 1975/76 he was a member of Manfred Schulze's ensemble . From 1977 to 1979 he belonged with Manfred Hering , Hannes Zerbe , Joe Sachse and Christoph Winckel to the group Osiris , which also appeared as guest soloists with Rudolf Dašek , Leo Wright , Toto Blanke / Charlie Mariano , Carmell Jones and Etta Cameron . He also played with the blues band Mama Basuto and in the brass band von Zerbe (1979), in the Hermann Keller / Manfred Schulze workshop orchestra (1980) and in the Johannes Bauer workshop (1981). At workshops and in concerts he gained experience with other musicians such as Tony Oxley , whose game conception had a lasting impact on him, Harry Beckett (1984) and John Tchicai (1985). In 1983 Dix led his own band Exu , since the same year he worked with the group Tett (recording with the pianist Erwin Stache, the bassist Rainer Kühn and the saxophonist René Schönherr on Kleeblatt No. 16 for Amiga ) in the field of free improvisation music ; In recent years he has also worked in the LeipJazzig Orkester and in the group percussion-trombone leipzig . In 1998 he released a solo album and has since given numerous solo concerts.

Since 1989 Dix has been teaching drums and rhythm at the University of Music and Theater in Leipzig, but has also led workshops elsewhere.
