Political Writings

Priézac published two major political pamphlets. In Latin, he refuted the work Mars Gallicus by Cornelius Jansen , which was directed against Richelieu's policy, in his Vindiciae gallicae , in which he defended the legal claims of the French king. In another work in French, he denied the legitimacy of Philip II as King of Portugal claimed by Juan Caramuel y Lobkowitz .

Religious writings

In the religious field he emerged as a translator (in verse) of some psalms , as well as in the context of the baroque devotion to Mary with a detailed presentation of the 10 gifts of grace (French: privilèges or prérogatives ) of the Virgin Mary under the title: Les Privilèges de la Vierge Mère de Dieu . Overview of the content:

  • 1. Predestination (1-48)
  • 2. Anticipation in the Old Testament (49–97)
  • 3. Origin (98–144)
  • 4th conception (145-180)
  • 5. Immaculate Conception (181-246)
  • 6. Absence of any tendency towards evil (247-301)
  • 7. Perfect Exemption from Sin (302-380)
  • 8. Benefits of the Birth of Mary (381–414)
  • 9. First consecration of virginity (415–464)
  • 10. Beauty (465-516)
