Danny Frankel

Danny Frankel (* around 1955) is an American fusion and rock musician ( drums , percussion ).

Danny Frankel had brief drum lessons with Paul Motian and has played as a member of the Urban Verbs since 1987 ; in New York, the group appeared several times in the punk rock scene (in the CBGB ). In 1987 he was involved in the recordings of The Satellites Four , the following year with The Nurses and The Reind Dears , and then also recorded two albums with the Urban Verbs . After participating in a show for the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund on MTV ( 120 Minutes ), he was also active in Lou Reed's band , with whom he also appeared on Dave Letterman and MTV and recorded a new version of the September song in 1994 . After the Urban Verbs disbanded in 1981, he moved to the West Coast and took lessons from percussionists such as Mike Pacheco , Kevin Ricard , Frank Colonx and Angel Figuerora. Frankel was then active in the avant-garde and fusion scene in the Northwest of the USA from the mid-1980s. a. in the Kamikaze Ground Crew formation . which also included Doug Wieselman , Steven Bernstein and Peter Apfelbaum . From the 1990s he also played with Robin Holcomb , Jane St. Clair and Nels Cline .

In 1996 Frankel's debut album New Thing on Jupiter was created in alternating trio and duo line-ups , followed by The Vibration of Sound (with Doug Wieselman, Pablo Calogero , Woody Jackson and Joseph Hammer ) and the trio production The Interplanetary Note / Beat Conference , the Frankel recorded with Nels Cline and Larry Goldings in Los Angeles in 2012 , the latter an original and humorous combination of organ, guitar and drums in the opinion of Allmusic . In the field of jazz he was involved in 25 recording sessions between 1983 and 2017, most recently with Chris Murphy. In the course of his career he has also worked with artists such as John Cale , Rickie Lee Jones , kd lang , Laurie Anderson , Fiona Apple , Marianne Faithfull and Beck .
