Danville is a city in Boyle County in the US state of Kentucky , in the United States .
According to the 2000 United States Census , the city has a population of 15,477.
This is where the Boyle County's administrative headquarters can be found. Danville was once the de facto "capital" of Kentucky in the 18th century when the area was still a district of Virginia . This is also where the first constitutional convention took place before it was appointed to the state.
Originally the place where "Transylvania University" was founded, it soon moved to Lexington .
