action

Investigator Tadek was deported to the archives after a messed up case. Now that he's about to retire, he senses a chance to restore his reputation: Tadek stands when a gruesome murder takes place on a wealthy businessman who has often been a guest at an underground SM club called The Cage at first in front of a big question mark, but during the investigation comes across a book by the author Krystov Kozlow - in which the story of a crime is told that is amazingly similar to this case. Kozlow's ex-wife Kasia also seems to be involved in the matter. Tadek picks up the lead, which leads to a game of cat and mouse between the investigator and the writer Kozlow.

reception

On Rotten Tomatoes , the film received a rare 0% rating based on 35 reviews. Metacritic rated the film with a score of 24/100 based on 14 reviews.

Antje Wessels awarded one of five possible stars at the start of a film and wrote: “In“ Dark Crimes ”, Jim Carrey tries out the role of the fate-shattered, disillusioned cop, but at best creates involuntary comedy. The yawning boring, ugly thriller on display should have slumbered in the poison cabinet despite Hollywood star power. "

The film service ruled: “The bitter cat-and-mouse game [...] wants to attract attention with its shocking ambience, but fails as a thriller because of too many references and set pieces as well as the overdrawing of the plot, against which even the renowned actors do not arrive."
