Dark Floors - The Lordi Motion Picture (working title: Punainen liitu , alternative title: Demonic Possession ) is a Finnish psychological horror film . With a budget of 4.2 million euros - including 300,000 euros in state funding - it is the most expensive Finnish film of all time.

The film, created in cooperation with the hard rock band Lordi , is the first work of director Pete Riski , who had previously made the band's music videos. The band, whose members themselves portray the monsters in the film, also contributed the song Beast Loose In Paradise to the soundtrack, which entered the Finnish charts at number three.

Dark Floors was already on 19./20. May 2007 applied at the Cannes International Film Festival . The film premiered in front of 5,000 guests on February 6, 2008 in Oulu at Oulun Energia Areena , home of the Finnish ice hockey club Oulun Kärpät . The nationwide premiere took place on February 8, 2008.

action

The autistic girl Sarah suffers from an acute psychosis , which is why an MRI scan of her brain is to be made, which forms the framework. She almost completely refuses to speak and instead draws somber pictures.

The main event shows what is going on in the girl's head during this time: Since none of the doctors can help her, her father Ben decides to take her with him. Together with four other people, however, they get stuck between the 6th and 7th floors. When the elevator doors open again, the sixth floor is orphaned and time has stopped. On the way out, they encounter various monsters and ghosts. Since the elevator still does not work and other entrances are blocked, they have to laboriously fight their way from floor to floor. The scenes become more and more nightmarish. The six later realize that Sarah is at the center of the strange happenings. In trying to escape from the hospital, more and more of the group lose their lives. At the end , Sarah projects her own demon onto her father, who is dragging her out of the MRI again at that moment.

criticism

"Horror film with the usual ingredients that would be lost in most of the offerings if it weren't for the official band film of the Finnish metal group Lordi (" The Lordi Motion Picture ") and the cinematic implementation of their stage show, which takes getting used to."

“Anyone who expects absolute trash from a Lordi film will be pleasantly surprised here. The story may be predictable and nonsensical at the same time, but the atmosphere and the setting are right. Despite the lack of vocals, it is worth seeing for fans of the Finnish hard rock band, but horror fans can also take a look. "
